Looks like the weather is holding for tomorrow… Cool in the morning, and in the low 70s all day… With sunshine… So off comes the Klim… And on goes the leather… It is time to Harley Davidson… Of course I shall wuss out enough and put on my electrics.

Looks like I picked a good day to travel… Vancouver all the way east it looks clear… And you can see what is coming behind me and I would’ve had to run through tomorrow … Time to pack up a lunch, make a thermos of coffee and load the bike out… I should be on the road in about an hour…

… On Highway three, which is what I’m taking… You probably never get any further north than about 50 miles from that street line… 500 miles sunshine… Should be a nice day’s run, Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise…

A bit longer day than I planned… About 11 1/2 hours Door to door… Full update tomorrow when I’m not as weary… But here’s a taste…

Obligatory Christina lake park bench photograph… as per usual, I stopped & ate a sandwich and had a cuppa coffee here… I quite enjoy my thermos and having coffee with me for when I please..

That was a nice days ride yesterday… Woke up early, but by the time I got a coffee down my throat, said my goodbyes, and got packed up, I never got out of Vancouver until about 8 AM… What I didn’t know was that Peter, “PapaWhisky” was also down at “the Beach”, and that we had left very close to the same time… But more on that a bit later… The traffic was light on the freeway all the way to Hope, and then basically became nonexistent for the next two or three hours, The road was pretty much all mine…

It was a cooler morning… Mid 50°‘s… And I knew that it would get colder once I got up into the mountains, so I dressed up warm… Time to SuitUp..

… All packed up and ready to leave… Taking all the gear I need in case I end up in Cranbrook for the summer…

… About 20 miles east of Hope… If you’ve never ridden on Highway 3 across BC, you should… It’s a great motorcycle road… Lots of twisties, big sweepers, little towns, lakes and a 1/2 dozen mountain passes.

… a bit further up the road, and time for second breakfast… This is at a place called Skagit Bluffs… Narrow twisty road, cut right out of the side of a mountain.

… Looking the other way… This really is beautiful country…

… Look at the temperature… And it dropped from that for about the next hour… The coldest I saw was about 39°F… I switched my layers around, and put my Electric jacket underneath my sweater… It was cool… I still had my leather gloves on, even though I prefer to ride with my fingerless ones…

Once I got off the mountain, it warmed up a bit… And I was able to cycle the electric vest and electric grips often on… I I pretty much did that for the rest of the day…

Between Keremeos and Osoyoos… Again, nice big sweepers and up and down a few grades

… Pretty much Desert country here…

… Ossoyos is down below and I’m looking Southeast, the far mountains to the south are in the USA… Usually I stop across the valley and up the mountain for a break, this time I decided to switch it up a bit.

A couple of more pictures to wrap it up… But before I get to that… When I started up this thread it was all about the motorcycle riding… And then along came Covid, and along came life, and I got away from that… I didn’t like the direction, because it turned more into a blog about this and that, and less about motorcycling… I didn’t like it, and Peter even commented on that yesterday When we stop for coffee… So, from this point forward, if it’s not about motorcycling, it’s not gonna be posted…

Christina Lake, at my lunch bench

That is about an 8 foot high snowbank… Look closely and you can see the very top of the cabin…

… Peter first caught up to me a couple of mtn passes back, and he pulled over to have a chat… But I didn’t recognize him… He passed me further up the hill, and then I started looking for this mystery motorcyclist… I pulled over at top of Kooteney Pass, he pulled in behind me… We chatted for a moment and then went down the hill to Creston, had a coffee at Tim Hortons and rode the rest of the way back into Cranbrook … He pulled over for gas, Me at the motel… he still had an hours ride left.

Darla ran flawlessly for the 500 miles… Of course being on a motorcycle I had to stop more often than if I was in my car… But like I said, I still made the 500 mile jump in about 11 hours… That included a half hour in Creston having coffee with Peter… I’ll be up in Cranbrook working for a while, and will post up motorcycle stuff while I’m here.

Rocky. That was great meeting up, and as always - awesome photos. It was a good day for a ride, in spite of the cool temps. Cheers, Peter
