When you’re in Kooteney national park and you go over the first hill… It’s flat for a while, nice big sweepers… When you get to the second hill … After you come down your flat again for a while… Look for Setlers Road… You’ll start to climb another hill… About halfway up there’s a pull out to the right… Park there, and walk across the highway to the lookout… Take your camera… When you’re standing in the Lookout, looked down the valley to your right… I use to log down there over 40 years ago… It was a feller Buncher show, my job was to square the butts with a Husqvarna & a 36 inch bar… I did that for one winter… It was all bug kill…

After you leave the lookout and continue on up the hill, at the very top on the left-hand side, is Olive Lake… That’s a nice place to stop for a sandwich… After you leave the top of the pass it’s all downhill towards radium… Just after you get past the swimming pool on the left you’ll come up to Sinclair Canyon… Stop in the parking lot on the right hand side… And go for a walk through it… Again take your camera… As you’re walking through it, think about me having to drive 80 foot long tractor trailers through there, with another one coming up the hill… Not a lot of space to negotiate two opposing tractor trailers in that little cut…

Invermere Inn and suites… Right downtown is a decent hotel… Blue dog café is a great place to eat, it’s just up the street from the hotel … When I was teaching Air Brakes up there that is where I stayed, and where I ate

I rode down for bacon and eggs… Then headed south down to zero Avenue, road all the way out too Sumas…and then North to Abbotsford up towards Mission… rode back via the northside of the Fraser river… And crossed back into Langley…

Stopped at the Harley dealership which is now open up on Sundays, sat an a couple bikes… Chatted with a few other folks there… And rode back home… started out cool, but I never had my electric vest on, although I did use the heated grips a couple of times… All in all a very nice Sunday ride-day …

Except for the amount of traffic… I do miss my empty East Kooteney highways… my daughter is thinking that she might wanna move back up into that part of the province in a year or two… It would be nice to be back there for the riding…

Our porous border… Actually, this is one of the most secure spots…

… because most of it looks just like this… Canada on the left USA on the right.
