earlier months means I miss the fall colours and puts me in Texas when it’s hot… The plan would be to look at the roads and the weather when I get to San Diego … I would probably just run all the way North up the PCH.

It has been an odd summer so far... I think I have put on only 1,000 miles, and that is being genourous... work and family, and the 'Rona has kept me off of the road... but, I have a plan... Last year you may remember that I did the Inside Passage ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, and then onto Jasper and back to Cranbrook... well I am going to reverse the route this year, and run it Counter-Clockwise... I already have the ferry booked for the middle of Sept, and the rooms booked on both ends of it... I will work on booking the other rooms I need a bit later... I am figureing on 3 days from Langley to Cranbrook, three days in Cranbrook working... one day to Jasper, and then decide if I want to head straight West, or go up through Chetwyn... then a couple of days working in Prince George, then one day to Prince Rupert... the boat ride... then one day to my brothers place in Duncan... then back home... should be two weeks all in and hopefully a couple of thousand miles overall... Here is a basic route of the ride...

If the border is open, I might take Hwy 20 from Bellingham East... but with all the bullshit going on with the 'Rona, I probably will just stay north of the Border.

Good Morning Rocky,

We moved from the Island to the Kootenays this year. Riding has been curtailed also - covid, now smoke. I will say - the closed border has opened a few new BC rides for me. Did 1000 in 24 this year, rode past Lytton, BC. Now it's 90% gone...
Just suggesting checking the smoke. I've been using Windy, an iPhone app and you can select PM 2.5 to check the smoke. Another one - www.firesmoke.ca
We cancelled our stay in Nelson - too smoky...

Have a good trip.
H

I was surprised how easy it was for me to book the inside passage Ferry for the dates that I wanted… And the motels on each end were easy also… Makes me think people are still holding back on travelling

I wanted to try the Hardy / Rupert ferry. Never did - roads always went elsewhere. I suppose we have people to visit in Smithers.
I hear to get the cabin, as it's a long run. I guess I could do some more research on the subject.

Have a great run.

I have taken the boat south and North... when I went south it was on summer schedule, which means it runs from early morning, to late at night... I did not have a cabin... this time, I will be doing the same run, and did not get a room, but did reserve a chair in the front Lounge... when I I went North, it was an overnight trip, so reserved a cabin...

The cabin I reserved for the overnight run...

... this is the front lounge... I will do my best to get upstairs quickly so I can get a front row seat.

I really miss riding and posting up images... so I am going to start running a retrospective of where I have Journeyed over the years... it will be what I have liked the best of what I have seen and done... in no particular order...

Enjoy...

Top of the Rogers Pass... a few more can be seen here...

Well, the big rounder in September went for the big crappola... but I did do a nice little 200 mile ride today...

Crossed the Fraser River and rode up to Hope on Hwy 7... Lots and lots of motorcycles out, and one example of why I DO NOT ride in groups... about 20 bikes where going about 10 miles an hour slower than flow, and was pissing everyone off... including me... after about 10 miles I took them in one pass...

... Downtown Hope BC... this is where "First Blood" was filmed... I lived here before that movie was made... way back in the early 70's... the town has not changed much since those days... except the housing prices... what use to sell for $25,000 is now half a million, or more...

... where I stopped for lunch... Hope Mountain Cafe... this place is worthy of an exit from the freeway if your heading into the City...

... and Hope Mountain is a nice view from the outside seating...

... Had a Reuben and probably the best Coleslaw I have ever had in a restaurant... I will stop in there again, and I am sure this will be my go-to dinner in the town.

When I started reading your post , I automatically thought of First Blood , one of my favourite movies , did you by chance cross the bridge Stallone stood on ? Been telling my wife for years , I'm going to stand in the exact same spot he did , someday . Beautiful pics Rock .
