When you get to Illinois.......I'm in.
Looks like your route will go through Springfield, IL which is about 40 minutes away from me.
We'll see what your timeline looks like as you get closer.

Enjoy & Safe Journey's for You & Darla!!

If your wanting to ride RT66 in IL unfortunately there's not much of it left. You'll be on I55 most the time.

Had a great ride down.... I will update tomorrow, as it appears Atlas needs some Rock time....

He thinks mine is the best lap.

Yeah.......you want to get through Illinois as fast as you can. Hopping on and off I-55 to ride bumpy short stretches on Rt 66 may not be so fun. On the other hand, if the goal is to cover what is left of Rt 66, then go for it. Which would explain your route into Chicago. Just please take my word for it, do not be in Chicago any later than 2PM. You want to be on your way north by that time. Any later and it will suck. And on Chicago, I will say that riding Lake Shore Drive north all the way up to Winnetka can be pretty cool (again - before 2PM) There's even a spot they call "The Dragon" lol......because it's a short curvy stretch. Seeing amazing homes would be the highlight.

As always, please feel free to ask for specifics. I can send you routes. More importantly, I can tell you what to avoid. Like being in Chicago after 2PM.

Rocky, Looking at your map I suspect you’d be coming in to Chicago on I55, the Stevenson Expressway. If you follow that all the way in US 41 will feed you in to Lake Shore Drive. Consider riding that north catching a glimpse of Lake Michigan on the right and the beautiful Chicago skyline on your left. At Navy Pier or Oak Street Beach you could exit and navigate to the west and then ride Michigan Ave. back south toward the Route 66 starting point. 72 is right about afternoon traffic being a hassle, but this is a real city .....but maybe you’ll hit it on a Saturday or, better yet, a Sunday or try it early on a weekday. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to eat one of those classic Italian beef sandwiches, wet and with hot peppers.

He would go in a heartbeat, but it will be too hot for him.... the Signature pic is from my Alaska Run in ‘017... he didn’t get on that one either.
