Default "Other bike" riders

After 30 states and a handful of provinces we seem to notice certain general characteristics of riders on different bikes we've met on the road. BMW's are often aloof older guys with goatees, Gold Wings carry big couples and we don't often see Wings or FLH's on remote 2-lane roads. Met a handful of hipsters on Sportsters in WA; very cool bunch of youngins... I know it's not right to generalize, but are we somewhat correct?

I see lots of all kinds of bikes on 2 lane roads here, actually seem to be preferred. I know I don't do much 4 lane riding, more cars, less fun.

I do think you can generalize somewhat, just natural that older folks like more comfortable bikes - my 68 year old back wouldn't take a sportbike position for long! Not that us old farts don't like to sprint and scrap metal occasionally, but that's usually a younger body's game.

I've noticed I get more disdain on my sportster from guys on CVOs and highly customized Harleys than any other kind of rider. More into image than riding? Around here, more older folk on Harleys and Wings, any age on BMWs. I seldom run across anyone on a bike that isn't friendly, regardless of differences in what we ride.

I've seen a lot of negative comments about metrics in general on this forum, yet when I'm out on my Ural sidecar rig, it's the Harley riders that want to look at it close up and talk about it the most. And Russians - I've even had one follow me till I stopped; he didn't know they were in this country now, and was thrilled to see one again.

We have ridden all over the US and most of Canada. I agree that different riders are on different type of bikes. I still enjoy talking to them all. We do share a lot of interests. Just about everybody wants to talk to me when I stop in the Ural. Oh, and I have found no defining characteristic on Ural owners, other than we are all a bit off.

In my travels I have noticed that BMW riders feel that the rules are for everyone else except them. No pass zones and speed limits are ignored. Oh yes they tend to be aloof and snooty.

F**k 'em

I've noticed a lot of BMW riders who don't sit. They stand on their pegs...guess the seats aren't very comfortable.
Most sport bike riders don't wave, even when the other rider initiates the wave.

I haven't really noticed because I'm usually not paying that much attention, probably because I don't give a **** about who's riding what.
