I have never been to Death Valley on a scooter, only in an air conditioned cage. But I have ridden year around here in Vegas since 7/68.

There is a difference between 'doable' and 'enjoyable'. And my tolerance for heat is fairly high.

Right now is the time to be in Death Valley. They are having their biggest bloom in eleven years.

June won't be too bad, hydrate and fill up before going in. If your near Shoshone Stop at the Crowbar for a bite to eat. http://shoshonevillage.com/shoshone-...fe-saloon.html

Old Hippie is right on, the desert in bloom is absolutely amazing. When I moved to Phoenix in 2004 we had a wet winter and an amazing spring.

Just got back from Death Valley, and it was amazing.

And to the OP, I'll just repeat what has already been said, be on the road at first light, stay hydrated (with Gatoraid or water), stop someplace with A/C and a pool before the hottest part of the day.

Don't miss the "Artist's Palette" loop off Badwater road.

4 years ago we did this ride from Yosemite to Vegas. We left at dawn taking 168 across to 95. It was 119 so hot as a furnace. Others have described as a hair drying blowing full blast in the face and that is accurate. I have 3 main recommendations. 1, take extra fuel, when we got to the next gas stop we had ounces left in the tank. 2 have water available as you ride and force yourself to drink it. 3. Wear a mesh jacket and keep yourself fully covered, you will keep cooler and more hydrated.
When I got to Vegas I had about 6 vodkas at the pool and I have never had a bigger hangover in my life. You don't realize how dehydrated you get.
