I posted a similar thread a while ago before I went to Mexico. (I ended up not renting there, mostly for lack of time because of other activities.) But here is that thread in case you want to see the opinions raised there: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-bad-idea.html

Buddy, myself and our wives did a one day ride from Playa about 4 years ago. Lot of straight roads, no hills and not much scenery. The Yucatan, you'll notice as you approach from the air, is mostly mangrove swamp.
We found a coastal road south of Tulum and enjoyed that part of the ride. Traffic was tolerable. Enjoyed being on a bike for a day in the middle of winter. Doubtful that I would rent and ride in that area again.
Rented in Cabo several years ago and rode up the Baha to La Paz. I'd do that again in a heartbeat.

Planning a tour of Mexico this winter. Old age & bad joints dictate I travel slowly. Probably going down to south of Cancun area. Interested in any others experiences. I've read most posts about Mexico trips, even seen some footage of several who went last couple of years. Thanks, by the way. Hope to have one last great trip before this old body gives out. Take care & thanks for any input.
