Oklahoma Short Ride Info Assistance
Good morning!
I am riding up to Thackerville, OK, tomorrow to have a little fun at the WinStar Casino. We are returning on Monday so on Sunday morning I would like to take a short ride in the area and would greatly appreciate any ideas of some nice back roads for 4-5 hours. I just want to get back to the hotel by noon, before it gets blazing hot.
Thank you in advance!

It may take a bit longer, round trip, than 4 or 5 hours but the Wichita Preserve is nice with a trip up Mt Scott, the Holy City, etc. and a stop at Meers for a world famous Meersburger.

I was just in East/Central OK last weekend. We stopped at Robbers Cave State Park. Very COOL place to stop and check out!!! There is a large lake/swim area, rappelling rocks & outlaw caves!!! It looks like it may be about 3 hours, 168 miles from where you are staying but it would be wortwhile in my opinion... Sorry no suggestions for routes to get there

Thank you everyone for your input!
We ended up riding the route I posted. Turner Falls was a really cool place to visit. There is a 77 foot waterfall that you can swim below. There is also some castle-like really old homes on the hillside within the park. It used to be the ranch headquarters. There are very small rooms and tunnels that are really dark connecting the rooms. In one of the tunnels I used the flashlight on my iPhone and the walls started moving. I then realized the walls and ceiling were completely covered in daddy long legs spiders. Eerie to say the least, even knowing they are harmless, rofl!
The road from I-35 to Turner Falls was really nice, hilly and twisty. In the park itself it was a real pain in the ***. Although we arrived at 8am, it was slam packed with cars and people everywhere, and the roads in the park really sucked. However, once parked, it was fun.
Our route on OK-77D after leaving the park had lots of 15mph twisties with medium grade increases and great views. After we turned right onto Kay Starr Trail (OK-110), we had more great views and some welcomed areas that were under tree canopies. Lots of twisties before and especially after Dougherty. In Dougherty, there is a small general store with very friendly folks running it.
After getting to Sulphur, I wanted to go into Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It looks really nice with lots of trees and what have you, however it was really starting to get warm and some of the riders with me were already needing cool-off stops, so we rolled on.
US-177 south was quite boring, however Lake Murray State Park was really nice. Wish I had more time to explore.
We stopped at La Roca in Marietta (corner of US-77 and OK-32) and had lunch. Food was good and wait staff great.
By the time we finished lunch, it was 112 degrees with a 121 heat index. I was very happy we only had a 15 mile blast down I-35 to get back to the hotel!
Sorry for the crappy pics. An iPhone is not a camera, lol!
77 foot waterfall
Spiders, LOTS of spiders!!!
Got a little toasty!
