Default Canyon de Chelly

We took a nice day to Canyon de Chelly, Az. yesterday. The canyon is amazing, and the ride over Buffalo Pass is great. We named it the Sheep Trail in honor of the sheep industry on the Navajo Reservation.

Pics as soon as I get them fixed.

Thanks, Bill. I saw the signs last year, but passed it up on my way to the Kaibab. I think I made a mistake. Maybe Next Year. Hope I remember.

I did spend a Very Pleasant couple of days at Chaco, for which I will always be grateful, and I cannot regret my time on the Kaibab, and I would also like to spend more time around Moab, but I am sure sorry I missed Canyon de Chelly. Damn. I need to get back on the road. Thought I might stay home this summer and catch some Redfish and take care of some chores, but your report is sure tempting. Great picts. We just do not get those beautyful clear blue skys in SE Louisiana. Rain every day here, and all that humidity blocks out a lot of stars at night.

All of the turnouts on the rim of the canyon have something interesting to offer. At the White House ruin you can hike 1 1/2 mile down into the bottom of the canyon. I plan on that in September for a photo class I am taking.

To get into the rest of the canyon you have to take a jeep tour. Not sure what the cost is.

I visited in May, 2011 on a cross country ride and loved the place.

I've been through Chaco, Chelly, Monument Valley, and Mesa Verde. I like that stuff a lot.
