Love riding down that way. Hard to believe that you arent farther away from the jungles of D.C. and Bloodymore than you are. I love Outlanders too, always stop there.
Next time down that way, take Rt 676 (Egypt Bend Rd - right next to Outlanders) to 678 (Fort Valley Rd). It takes you over Massanutten Mtn and down into the valley. Great little ride on rural roads. Empties you out on Rt 55 at Front Royal.

Good advice on Egypt Bend and Fort Valley. The two roads are actually connected by Camp Roosevelt Road as you will see on Google Maps.
I took this photo on Egypt Bend Road 2 weeks ago when the redbud trees were popping:
This is on Camp Roosevelt Road looking east over the Shenandoah River Valley toward the Blue Ridge.
This was taken last fall on Fort Valley Road (along Passage Creek) up closer to Front Royal.

I was back on Fort Valley Road last weekend. My wife was with me this time and playing with the video camera app on her new phone. This is the ride up Massanutten Mountain, including the 5 mph hairpin turn. (Playback in HD 1080p--click the gear icon at the bottom of the YouTube screen--or it looks pixilated.)
