Should I plan two days in the Estes Park area is one day enough? I would like to see the park, do the Peak to Peak ride, maybe ride Big Thompson Canyon Road, then the next day head west.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not an expert on it, but I say go for 2 days. Gives you more time to see the sights and such.

When you head west out of Estes your taking Rt. 34 , Trail Ridge Road , to Granby ,,right ? Be a shame if you miss it .

You can ride Trail Ridge Road from Estes to Granby to I-70 in a day easy enough. Depends on what you want to see and do while in the area. If you just want to ride one day is plenty. If you want to shop in Estes Park and mess around some, you might want two days. I would plan on two and if you get through early you can go do some other great Colorado ride.

I've ridden through RMNP several times. My suggestion is to ride into Estes Park via the Big Thompson canyon. Next day ride all the way through the park on Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake. Take your time, it's a fairly short ride.

Spend the night in Grand Lake (it's a neat little town) then either ride back into the park or continue west. If you ride all the way through the first day, you'll know whether you want to go back and explore some more or not.

I am staying in Estes. Probably stay two days. At least take a little break from the previous two days and 1400 miles.

If it were me, I would plan at least 2 days in Estes Park and 4 would be ideal. Really liked my stay there. We stayed in the Stanley hotel. Only problem was... no air conditioning and it was unseasonably warm. lol

I recommend at least 2 full days. You can ride all the roads in one day if that's all you do. When we go we like to do some hiking, horseback riding, walk around Estes Park. There is also whitewater rafting and a lot of other stuff to do. We usually stay in Loveland the night before and ride up through the canyon then stay in Estes Park two or three days. Also plan on a short lived thunderstorm every afternoon in the summer.

Thanks for the suggestions. For now, I am planning on two days. Then Buena Vista for 2, Ouray for 2, Moab, Durango for 2-3. then headed home. The trip is still a work in progress.
