Default Road Trip - Pigeon Forge to Nasville...recommendations?

Hey all,

I got a group from East PA/South NJ riding on touring bikes to Pigeon Forge TN and then to Nashville for a week-long road trip soon. About 6 bikes going...all bros this time. A friend has some knowledge of the Pigeon Forge area (Tail of the Dragon, etc., Smokey Mountain Park, etc).

Can anyone recommend some good roads/attractions/things to do on this trip, and in Nashville? We're planning to spend a couple days in the Pigeon Forge area first and do some mountain riding, and then a couple days in Nashville, and then returning through Kentucky on to Morgantown, WV, and then east back to PA and NJ. We like to ride most of the day and see the sights/points of interest, and then spend the eves at a good roadhouse/restaurant for some bourbon/beers and good food.

Any recommendations? Thanks...

Default Natchez Trace

I would make as much time as you can to ride the Natchez Trace.

It's not twisty, but it is really mellow and very little traffic. No trucks are allowed.

Hey rkiovisto,

Thanks for the reply. Where/what is the Natchez trace? Route number?. Some one mentioned the Natchez Trace in the Road Trip subforum. I posted there as well.

Thanks

Sounds like a really fun ride. No recommendations but I hope you post back with a full event recap and pictures. This time of year it would be beautiful.

The "Trace" runs 444 miles from Natchez, MS to Pasquo, TN. It's two lane, no semi trucks, nice scenery...just a laid back easy ride.
The Loveless motel / cafe is near the Trace on Hwy 100 and has mighty fine Southern food.
If barhopping is planned, go to 2nd Avenue in Nashville.

Just got back from Smokies on Wednesday did 4 day trip. We stayed in Knoxville downtown area as the Market Square is walking distance with plenty choices food & drink. Preservation Pub always has some good live music. Firist day we went over near Oak Ridge Tn and did the Devil's Triangle past old Brushy Mountain State Penn. some killer switchbacks. Next day took 129 down to Tail of Dragon then on to Cherohola Skyway(Telico Plains then back up North to Knoxville. Only saw one cop on Tail that day and one tractor trailer so be carefull.

the smokey mountain HD dealership in pigeon forge has a big *** map on the wall with all the fun routes on it. just ask the big guy at the door for suggestions when you walk in. almost everything starts out on 321 or 441. There are too many good roads in Tenn, Ga, NC, SC. all within a few hour to mention and the good one's have no name.

Might be a little outta the way, but the Jack Daniel's Distillery is south of Nashville in Lynchburg. Or perhaps on the way back you and the boys can make a stop at Jim Beam in Clermont, KY. Always nice stops at the end of a days ride.

S and G Custom Cycles is cool to visit. In Columbia, TN not to far off the Trace. Custom builder and Harley Indy since 1973. The shop has kind of a Cracker Barrel decor for bikers

Another consideration would be the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way home, NO SEMIs! A lot of jumping off points, Boone N.C. or Roanoke VA. Have fun
