Default Sportster S may be missing a trim piece, help verify please

Hello,

We bought my wife, Heather, a new Sportster S. It appears to be missing a trim piece on the exhaust. However, we can't seem to verify. There are not may around to look at and the only other one at the dealer right now is the same as ours. So here are a few pictures. One of her bike, a close up of the area we think the trim is missing from, and a picture from the H-D web site of what looks like the trim that should be there. If anyone else here has a Sportster S, can you verify if you have a trim piece covering that part of the exhaust, or not?

Thank you.
Bill,

I found this parts diagram on another forum. I believe we are missing part 28.

That part you are missing is also listed under "loose parts". Loose parts are not installed at the factory. They are shipped with the bike, and installed by the dealer.

Thank you for the help. I went back to the dealership and they are ordering the part.

Glad you’re getting the missing part.

Looks like it’s also set up for a passenger. I don’t see the extra heat shield that comes with it. You may wish to have it for any passengers.

Jay1250T,
Thanks for noticing. I haven't installed the passenger peg kit yet. It has the additional heat shield. I will be installing the passenger peg kit this weekend.
