Default FXRG with body armor VS First Gear

I am looking for a versatile riding jacket. One that is water-resistant has body armor and a liner that can be added or removed.

I tried on a FXRG jacket. It fits the bill but ouch! on the price. I realize too that you will get what you pay for. Having said that, is there something else out there that is similar to or better quality/design than the FXRG that doesn’t break the bank? (Yes, I will look at good used on ebay. I understand that the FXRG has been redesigned this year and I liked the fit.)

Thanks in advance.

No. I just can't bring myself to turn loose of that kind of money. I still haven't ruled it out. It's just too warm right now for me to convince myself I want it.

I have an older fxrg midweight jacket and love it there is excelent ventilation in it and it has a funky kind of pocket system that will hold an ungodly amount of stuff. I can't really comment on the newer ones though, haven't had a chance to really check them out.

I was the lucky recipient of an FXRG jacket for a recent milestone birthday and have been riding with itfor the last 6 months. It keeps me dry in the rain (although it's no substitute for a rain suit), it's warm on chilly days and have even had it on when the weather is pushing 90, again not recommended, but having nowhere to bungee the coat to.... When it gets even colder, the lining will be zipped back in.

JUST CURIOUS...HOW MUCH IS THE JACKET. SEEMS TO ME THAT IF YOU WANT THE JACKET FOR PROTECTION, THEN THE PRICE SHOULDN'T MATTER...SO HOW MUCH IS IT?

I was looking at these yesterday, The leather version is $595.00 and the nylon version is $400.00 or so. Very nice jackets as far as fit and function.

I bought the FXRG leather jacket this year. You bet it hurts when writing the check however that's the last time for the pain, soon to be replaced with a wide smile. I appreciate the forethought gone into design and function---excellent!!. Used in all weather conditions w/ very positve results and the only slightly negative mark would be it's warm on warm days. Made for lots of miles.

I have the nylon FXRG. Got it in September and love it. It has lots of vents for when it gets a little warm. The zip out lining keeps you very warm. Worth the price for sure.

I just picked one up last night. It has to be one of the most comfortable armored jackets I have worn.
It was chilly here, by CA standards anyway and the jacket kept me perfectly warm with complete blocking of the wind.
Well worth the price so far.

I also picked up the FXRG full face helmet for colder riding, I'll review it when I use it.
I do know its lighter in weight than my HD half helmet.
