$1400 bucks will almost get you one big steer:

Great picture! I've known that guy (standing next to the cow) my entire life! To give you an idea of the steer's size, Joe is 6'+!

if you were really worried about protection you would've gotten a kevlar armored jacket from a metric shop, it will protect you much better for 1/3rd the price.
you really think your leather is somehow going to resist road rash better than any other leather of equal thickness no matter the cost? not likely.

I thought I was bad when I bought a HD FGRX jacket that was in the $500 range on sale. I actually bought a $150-$200 River Road at the same time just to have both at home at the same time to compare. Wound up returning the HD jacket. It had a few more bells and whistles than the RR but in the important areas like the thickness of the leather the RR was at least the equal of the HD FGRX and it fit me better also. Still very happy with it. It is super warm with the liner in even in the coldest weather and is comfortable in warm (to about 60-65) with the sleave zippers open and the front partially open as long as you are moving. 70 and up to about 85 usually go with the Joe Rocket mesh/armor jacket. Above 85-90 just a t-shirt but I feel like I'm being a little stupid.
