Have not used Metzlers on my new bike. Only have 7,700 miles. I ran 3 pair on my old 1993 Gold Wing. One set got 33,000+ miles on them and I replace them before most. I always loved the way they handled the weight of the GW and they had a much better ride feel than Dunlops. I will replace the Donlops on the SG with Metzlers and see how they feel.

Ride Safe,

Mike

I also use the ME880's. In fact, I put them on my Hayabusa custom. I had a fat tire kit on it, so I used the 240 rear. I could not believe how they were on a sport bike, and held up at speeds over 300 km/h. Not to mention, I got just over 10,000 km's on them before they heat-cycled out and lost their adhesive properties. I put 5,000 km's on them in one trip through 9 days of straight rain. They only had about 1000 km's on them at the time. I could not believe how good they were in the rain. Probably the best tire I have ever had on a sport bike.

I've ordered a set for my Deuce.

I replaced a Metzler rear tire on my '05 FXDI with 13,000+ miles. It replaced the original Dunlop rear when I had 1,000 miles on the Dyna (nail through the tread and sidewall). Don't know about the front as I'm still running the original Dunlop. But when it's time to replace it, based on the rear tire life, I'll switch to the Metzeler.

I've used Metzies my whole life. I'm probably dating myself here, but I started with the original MEZ1's, and have never looked back. I'm thinking of putting a set of Pirelli Super Corsas on my Ducati 748 - they're only good for about 2500 km's but are supposed to be really sticky. My wife uses the standard Corsas on her F4, and she swears by them. Now that Pirelli & Metzeler are the same company, I've got no reservations.

I looked at the Avons, as every company I deal with for aftermarket wheels recommends them, and I've heard good things and see no reason why not, but where I am, the Avons are much more expensive than the Metzelers. I was going to put a set of Venoms on the new wide-tire chopper project, but it's cost-prohibitive. After the positivelong-distance experience with the 880's, I'm going to stick with Metzeler.

Had a set of them on my last bike. Great on dry pavement. Very slippery on wet. I went with Avons this time. I'm happier with them.

2nd set of tires on bike were metzlers after I got 12,000 miles out of them I went to Avon Venom X. Just switched back to Metzlers this weekend. Avon is not a bad tire by any means but I like the price, longevity, and handling better on the Metz. what tire pressures are you guys running? I've got 42 in the rear (150x80 16") and 40 in the front (90/90 21").

depends on the load and temps primarily. IMO those #'s seem just a little high? dropping the front by a few might settle it down somewhat; being that its such a small contact patch I reason towards something "flatter"

Rebel,

Did notice that it seems a little bumpy up front this time around. What pressure would be good to still keep longevity and handling?

I realized from your pic that you ride a softail, they're a little heavier that my wide glide. so your original #'s might be good, however I still think a little high. I'd find a happy medium between what your owners manual recommended for the stock flops and what the metz side wall indicates. then just give and take from there till you find your niche. also metz's are rounder (profile) out of the box than dunlops.[sm=signs003.gif]
