Sylvania SilverStar bulb
#22
I also use the Silver Star bulbs, but I learned a long time ago that just YOU didnt touch the glass envelope of the bulb, someone else may have or a spec of dirt could have gotten on the glass during shipping. Before I install any halogen bulb, I always make sure to wipe the glass clean with a cotton gauze pad and rubbing alcohol. Using this method, the Silver Strars in my Ford Bronco, and in both of my bikes last much longer than a year. The pair I have in the Bronco have been in there for over two years now.....and the one in my 03' SE-Deuce has been working just fine since spring of 07.

Consumer reports tested quite a few bulbs(9005's? )a couple years ago.The silverstars were no brighter than any other bulb (and put out a few less lumens than a few tested also). The blue tint gives the perception of a brighter light cause it appears whiter,it ain't. The only way to get a brighter light is to get a 65/70 watt bulb and wire it through a relay and 12 ga. wire..............or a DOT H.I.D

silverstars
Last summer I put a pair of Silverstars in my RG and was very pleased with how they lit up the road at first but after just a couple months one went out so I replaced it thinking maybe it was a fluke. But after a couple of months more another went out. I'm thinkin about just going back to the HD replacements since the ones that were in the bike when I got it lasted several years before one went out and the RG fairing is a pita to r & r.

I've had all the PIAA's with the different Kelvin Temperature (color rating) and I've used the Silverstar and Silverstar ULTRA (because I ride an Ultra, just kidding) however, The life span is DEFINITELY shorter than anything I've ever used. When they worked they were very nice though. I'm using LED's now. I actually have 2 brand new Phillips Xtreme Power bulbs for sale if anyone wants them. $25 shipped. PM me
