RE: communication devices....need advice to buy
I have to ask...Do you want something that you'll use all the time or just once or twice a year on a trip? Stay away from the FRS systems unless you just want to talk to only someone else with the same setup. Most tourers use CB. Cheapest way to go is a Midland hand held CB witha handle bar mount with a J&M wiring harness and head set.
Their handle bar mounted CB is the nicest I've seen. Not cheap but its the way I'd go if I didn't have a bagger and wanted something I would use all the time.J&M
Search their site for the Midland set up too but you can find it cheaper on Ebay I'm sure. Just get their harness and head set for a pretty good system.

Chatterbox looks cool and writeups indicate it should be a great product. But I have spoken to several people who have commented they are useless above 45-50mph; can't hear anything.
I'm researching this myself. I'm leaning toward an FRS setup since the radios are cheap. Headsets are pretty easy to find and you won't break the bank building a setup. Its not one stop shopping but that could help you tailor the system to your needs.
I found a place that has throat mics that allegedly work well, even under speed. Only negative is not having a PTT button I can mount on the bars or on thumb. http://www.bluekangarootechnologies.com/
If I can't find an FRS headset that'll work I'll look into portable CB's. But the shortfall there might also be the headsets.

I have an Autocomm unt that I could sell. It is the Promodel includes hookups for a 12 V system so could be wired into a bike. Also have the hlemet setup two mikes, one used one brand new as well as a Kenwood Freestyle XL FRS/GMRS radio.
It works great I just do not need it on my Ultra. I used on my 2005 Road king.

Anyone got word on Motocomm's system? Comments, reviews, etc. Seems like a decently priced setup, not too expensive, not too cheap. Can anyone tell me if its worth the $$ as an all in one system. Or is it just better to fork over the extra cash?
