HD Performance Footwear
Hey Everyone!
I'm new to HDForums.com, and I just wanted to ask everyone what sort of boots/footwear they wear when they go riding. Is there a specific brand you wear, such as HD boots because you own a Harley, or do you wear other brands as well? What sorts of specs do you look for on the boots/footwear that make it the most appealing to you? I'm wondering this, as I am in the market for a pair of high performance boots, and wondered what everyone else thought I should look at? Thanks!

(a) protect the feet and ankles in the event of fall/crash
(b) cool in the summer/warm in the winter
(c) remain dry in most rainy conditions
(d) comfortable enough to wear/walk all day
With those things in mind, I've chosen "tactical" style boots for the last several years...Magnum, Bates, etc. It has been my experience that any "motorcycle specific" boot usually means a premium cost with little or no additional benefit.
Hope that helps!

Stay away from the Harley FXRG boots. I made the mistake of buying them. They are insulated so they are too hot from june until september but not warm enough for the mid thirties we get here in october and november. I have a pair of Bates that have worked well.

I wear these boots and have for the last 3 years (the same pair and I ride to work every day) They are very comfortable and give good support. They are also easier to get in and out of than my Red Wings. I wore them on my trip to the Vegas Bike Fest and walked all over the place there.

when it comes to boots, I wouldn't go into a store and pick out a pair... on this one, take advice from people who wear them.... don't waste money on something that looks nice, and is comfortable in the store, but won't last, or don't make it more than a season.
