Best Motorcycle Magazines?

RE: Best Motorcycle Magazines?
Love you mag! Been a subscriber for at least 5 years now. I like the tech articles and that you always show the bikes being ridden. I also have really fallen for the new American Bagger mag, good tech articles and focus on baggers. Keep up the good work, but keep the criminals out.......

I don't subscribe to any of them but I buy most of them (except the metrics) at the chain bookstores because they get them first!
I like your magazine and V-Twin and Easy Rider (of course), but I also really like the more under ground mags like The Horse Backstreet Choppers and Iron Works, because they show bikes that aren't so pretty, but are real world cool.
I like "reader rides" articles, I can't stand pictures of idiots doing burn outs. Also, these magazines who will show ANY woman without a top on no matter how old or hideous should give us a break, show another bike instead.
Another magazine I like is American Rider because they are not afraid to give a lousy review!
Here is something I would like all the bike mags to do- when showing a bike put in at least one shot of the bike with a rider on it so we can get an idea of the bike's proportions.
One last thing-If there were a magazine devoted strictly to bobber style bikes I would buy it.

I'll agree... the unridable customs are getting old. I subscribe to about every magazine out there.. including yours. to be honest my favorite ones are The horse..back street choppers, and cycle source. these mags are more for the " honey, i'll be out in the garage all night " kind of guy. I also like motorcycle consumer news, for the fact that theres no advertising. yes, its thin, but take all the ad's out of AI and it would be just as thin.
Dont get me wrong buzz, you do put out a great magazine.
Just a little less " fluff " , and a little more " substance " would be nice.

RE: Best Motorcycle Magazines?
Hands down American Rider is the best in my oppinion. To me it seems like more "average joe" magazine. It has more focus on good trips to take, product reviews and bike reviews.
American Iron I do read at work. I really like the editor columns. Nine times out of ten they are a good read. I personally don't like all of the custom stuff in there. To me I can't afford one and I'm just not into bikes you can't ride much. I like the reader send in photos and stories too. American Iron is the second best in my oppinion.

For a long time, I automatically picked up AI on the newstand, but haven't in some time...my main complaints?
1) Mega $$ bikes that few can relate to.
2) Just because Arlen Ness's grandson has access to unlimited
materials does not make him a bike builder, and entitled to
coverage in a national mag.
3) Genevieve Schmitt's constant harping about the difference
between male & female riders...one of my best friends is a
awoman who's been riding a hardtail custom for years, and
SHE'S fed up with it...GS needs to STFU and just ride the
damn thing!

The Horse Backstreet Choppers is the most fun to read. It's usually stories about "everyday joe" types who use skill, blood and grit instead of pouring money into a project. I live vicariously through it, because I am MR. BADWRENCH. I scratch and dent every mechanical thing I touch.

Looked at your magazine but I grew up in the begining of the chopper era.
Did not like them then and do not like them now. sorry and I mean no ill to anyone if that blows your hair I understand go for it.
But that is the reason I do not buy your magazine. More into the touring thing and always have been. But thats just me
