Default Finding neutral again

1996 Fatboy, 44,000 miles, so.... i started having problems finding neutral again. last time, i adjusted the clutch it seemed to work for a while. Well, 10,000 miles or so later im having trouble again. I have adjusted the clutch 6 times, both ways as stated on this forum. one minute it will pop right in other times i cant make it go in, the clutch is not dragging. i have redline primary oil in there and its at the bottom of the clutch basket when the bike is level. I did notice the primary chain seems loose, its got right at 3/4" play , cold , no I didnt roll it to find the tight spot, there seems to be no more adjustment left either. the guide is in good shape also. getting really frustrated now , idleing it will not go in, shut it off it falls in effortlessly, gonna sleep on it and ride it to work tommorow..........

any ideas?

Is this the original clutch? The play in the primary is a little too much but that shouldn't be the problem. Have you had the throw bearing checked if this is worn and on its way out this could be the culprit. Good luck

As far as I know it is. It had 18k on it when I bought it. No haven't checked the throw out bearing.

You might consider disassembling the clutch pack and see if the spring plate in the center is going bad.

Some have reported that running ATF in the primary helped (I tried it and noticed no difference).
