Default No inspection cover

Is it ok to run the bike temporarily in the garage with the inspection cover off just to see if the chain is slapping around after adjustment? Or is that a bad idea?

You should not have to do that . Use a coat hanger and bend into a square "s" shape and measure and make adjustment. You a permenment maker to put your distance on the wire and check it Do that and it is correct or wrong. No reason to run it open.

I suspect a lot of oil is going to be splashing out of there! Might not be such a good idea.
