RE: BDL Help!!!
After over 3 hours of trial fitting and clearancing the BDL motor and trans interface pieces on the back of the BDL motor plate, and finding out that the trans roller bearing was cocked in its retianing diameter, I found out that I have a .090 gap between the motor and the plate.
It's almost as if BDL should have left .090 more materialon the motor end of the plate, and instead machined it off. I measured all of the interface details @ 1.188 - 1.190 on a BDL specified 1.190. Also the stock index pin in the trans plate next to the starter bolt hole, did not prperly align with the holein the BDL motor plate, throwing off the alignment. Further inspection determined that the sealed BDL bearing in the motor plate was cocked .050 - .055 in its diameter.
I was able to project the motor diameter bolt bosses and the trans bolt bosses out, and was able to determine that they were inparallel planes, negating the need fora realignment of the trans and motor.
I think I'm fairly certain that I'mthe victim of a poorly and incorrectly machined motor plate, CNC'd or not..
I'm calling BDL tech Monday morning with my findings and see where we go from here.
This has been truly frustrating to say the least. I will definately think twice before I buy another BDL drive.
