Bad Bad Clutch problem
Owner of a 1989 FLHTP. I recently pulled trap door, inner primary and all associated hardware to fix a leaking main shaft seal and trap door gasket.
Well my problem is that my clutch pushrod is melting (literally) against the right side right end pushrod piece and against the adjusting stud on the left side.
It happens after about 60 miles you would think adjustment is off but no slippage on clutch, it shifts great, finds nuetral fine and fluid is right.
What makes the clutch pushrod move off the right side push rod end ? that is the piece that is moved when you pull clutch lever and the ramp moves up and down ?
It looks like the clutch pushrod has no room to move away from either end but if that were so then the clutch wouldn't operate corrctly would it ?
Well hope someone can help. I don't know if you can answer my question unless you have diassembled all of this for yourself and seen how this is all goes together.
Thnx, Richard
