Do you have a service manual? Have you followed the procedure to adjust the clutch?

Like mentioned above, you'll have to check your clutch adjustment. Usually, it's 1 1/2 counter-clockwise turns from seated. But with my 16 in. apes, it was more like 2 1/2 turns with the adjustment stud.

If I remember right, the proper adjustment at the clutch set screw is 1/2 to 1 full from seated. All other takeup is done thru the cable.
That will not change no matter how long the cable is, unless its the wrong cable!
Another thing that can happen, if you loosen the clutch adj too much, one or more of the ***** in the thoughout lever can fall out. If that happens, you have to diassemble the right tranny cover and reassemble the lever with ***** in place (use grease).
2 1/2 turns out from seated could cause the above senerio. No amount of cable adj will make up the difference, and there may be ***** (3/8") floating around in the case, not good. fwiw Fastrider 124

Good point. My adjustment was not made on a stock clutch but an aftermarket BDL clutch assy. for primary belt. As mentioned above, check your ramp and make sure everything is in pace with no bind in the cable.
