Clutch whining when cold

Clutch whining when cold
I recently went through the primary to find and eliminate a rattle which went away after I replaced the comensator. While I was in there, I opened up the clutch and inspected the plates which looked ok. The bearing felt tight and rolled freely. Everything went back in the order it came out. The issue I have now is a whine from the primary when it is cold. If it is a warm day, the whine is not there. If I disengage the clutch, it goes away. After it warms up, it goes away. This morning I rode the bike to work (5 am) and it was pretty chilly, (about 45 degrees). The whine was much more predominate but went away after a half mile or so.
I also pulled the stator and inspected it. It was fine and my thought is if it was the cause of the whine, it wouldnt go away when the clutch was disengaged. Any thoughts? could I have done something to the clutch basket bearing? Any help would be much appreciated.
