I have 03 soft tail with a leak from the 5th gear seal. Being I have to remove the primary to get to this seal, what else should I replace while going in? I have @145,000 miles on it now.

Replace the inner primary bearing, inner and outer race.

On the transmission case:

Shifter Shaft Seal

Main Shaft/Main Drive Gear Seal (this seal goes into the end of the main drive gear, it seals the space between the I.D. of the main drive gear and the O.D. of the mainshaft).

Main Drive Gear Seal (the big seal that is covering the ball bearing).

Pulley Spacer (this runs inside the big seal).

Quad Seal (when you pull the spacer, the quad seal will be underneath it).

On the Inner Primary Cover:

Starter Jackshaft Seal
Mainshaft Seal

Use new lock bolts on the pulley nut lock plate.

Check the splines on the shifter shaft, if they look worn, now is the time to replace the shaft.

Replace the shift lever bolt with a good grade 8 bolt, and get it good and tight when you reassemble.
