I have the SE 6 speed gear set, it was installed at 1000 miles on my '05 Springer Classic. I am 100% satisfied with it. I cannot imagine my bike without it. At 5000 miles I did the SE 95" stage II mod. The combination of the 6 speed and the big bore kit is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone wanting "a little more bike" out of their H-D. The only complaint, and to me it's not really a complaint, is it does whine in sixth gear. In my opinion, that's my high gear indicator.

Nothing at all wrong with the S/e. I just prefer the baker units as they can tke more abuse than the s/e. I am talking abuse though, burnouts, holeshots, big motors. They do not whine at all like a s/e eighter.

j2dawson:

I think what cdale976 is refering to is the difference in gear ratios. I have read quite a bit about people having to do a lot of downshifting from 6th at around 60 mph. I cannot speak from first hand experience as I have not ridden an '07 6 speed bike. I do know my SE 6 speed in conjunction with the 95" motor on my '05 allows me to ride in 6th gear from 50 mph on up. There's plenty of usable power.

se 6 speed is quiet, shifts excellent and can take a beating. have bro running110hp duece--he rides hard and has had NO issues in two years.
new moco 6speed is a noise maker and yes shifting is constant. like riding a rice burner. in fact riding a rice burner may not be as bad when it comes to being in right gear for engine to run.
I know a few bikes running the SE gears and they all have nothing but smiles.likewise i know a few running the bakers and they to are a great choice
