Default Changed clutch cable now have problems

Hi
I have a 1986 883 sporty and I change my bars to ape hangers so changed clutch cable to longer one that I had here. I got it all put back together but now when I squeeze the clutch lever the bike stays in gear it wont be in neutral so I can't start the bike cuz if I squeeze the clutch the gears are still in gauged . What couls I have or be doing wrong. I tried adjusting the cable but wont work HELP PLEASE !!!!!!

Totally collapse the cable, and adjust the clutch at the clutch than adjust your cable.

I tried that but still can't get clutch to disangage gears. The cable I'm useing is a HD cable and it fits on the primary cover but it is a little long so I just routed it around the trees before to the handle bar, does that make a diff. I'm not sure if its a sportster cable but like I said it fits the cover and hooks up to the clutch inside cover ok. What is the complete prosses to adjusting the clutch after installing a new cable.
Thanks for ur help . I appreciate it...LOTS

Did you screw the adjustment at the clutch in or out. You have to screw it out to bottom it out then slightly in to get free play.

Thanks for all ur effort . I tried this all but still when I pull the clutch lever in the bike is still in gear. Does it matter how long the new cable is cuz it fit onto the primary cover good but its a little long so when its hooked to the clutch lever there is quite a bow but I didn't think that should matter as long as it fit on the primary cover. I am REALLY bumed cuz I can't even ride it to a harley dealer to get looked at and don't have a truch or trailer so need it running HELP !!!!!!!!

Default new 18" ape's and clutch cable, no clutch engage

03 fatboy just installed 18" ape's and a new clutch cable for the ape's and did the cable install and everything seems to be right, the bottom disc with the tang is in the groove in the side of the cover like they say in the manual, the 3 ***** are in the slot's disc. the top part of the disc with the cable moves and comes up and down the right way when up pull on the clutch lever,,,i just got this fatboy a week ago and it's ready to ride with the new ape's but now this, ain't the bad luck just part of it,,,, what a bummer,,,,,,,,, any help would be nice,,,,thanks
