Dyna Mid Shift linkage routing
Similar post in Dyna section, but, seems better to ask here....
I've never had a Dyna primary cover off.
Does the Dyna mid shifter shaft go through a housing inside the primary chaincase or is the shaft exposed within the chaincase housing?
I've gone to forward controls and want to remove the mid shift linkage and need to know if I leave the hole on the engine side of the chaincase open, will lube leak out?

RE: Dyna Mid Shift linkage routing
You can remove shaft without any leakage, they make a chrome plug to plug the outside hole off. How have you installed forward controls without changing the shaft on the tranny, to get to that shaft it requires the primary cover, clutch bskt, comp sprocket, chain and tensioner, and inner primary to be removed. the stock tranny shaft is about 2" shorter than the one supplied with the forward control kit.

Actually, there is a plastic or phenolic tube that runs from the inner to outer primary cases. It has o-rings on both ends to seal at the inner primary and inspection cover. It is held in position by a bracket that is bolted to the inside of the inner primary. The shifter shaft goes through that tube.
