Default 2 weeks at HD - too long?

Had some noise, and shavings in transmission, so HD took it in and tore it down (have warranty). Found an exploded throwout bearing. So, since they are great guys, they are replacing everything affected and looking worn.

It's been there 2 weeks, and "according to them" on the guys lift for a week. Seems long to me. I can' bitch too much, it's costing me $50 (deductible)...but still, how long does that take?? Especially if the parts are new??

If parts needed for the repair and NOT in the dealers inventory it takes 5 to 7 BUSINESS days to get the parts. The time (one week) may not be unusual but I hope the Tech has access to another lift or he may go hungry.

yes with harley you need to give them at least 2 weeks to get the parts in they only have 1 parts warehouse in the US and its ran by union labor so they dont get in any hurry filling and sending out orders.

And none of the dealers keep much on inventory, so the odds are, transmission parts had to be ordered. Additionally, something could be on back order. Go talk to the tech.

2 weeks is not bad at all... hell i brought my trans out of the bike to them and it took 2 weeks to get in parts to finish rebuilding it... 2 weeks is not bad... trust me the tech wants that bike off his lift as much as you do... when i pulled my trans it took about 4 hours to tear it down and about 2 to assemble it... most of the $ was in gaskets and crap

Cool. I actually stopped by last night to chat and see what was up, and they were washing it...done!

I was thinking the same thing, as far as billed hours...surely they don't have 7 days down for a trans. But in talking to them, it was gaskets and such that held up the process. Also, after he got it all together, it wouldn;t shift, so he had to tear it all back down, realign something, then put it back in.

All in all, I got a new trans from warranty, V&H headers, and PC5 with Autotune...I am happy now!
