hi my son just recently got a custom shovel?? maybe 82/83flt ,5 speed and is unable to put in neutral while running and with clutch pulled when in gear has to hold back as bike is still trying to go .tryed to ajust several times with center screw in clutch but still has same problem.

 

The problem is clutch drag, in other words the clutch is not freeing properly when pulling on the lever. I'm not sure about your bike, but correct clutch adjustment on my slightly later bike involves adjusting both that central screw and the cable. My cable has an adjuster halfway along the outer. Back that right off, so there is tons of slack, adjust the central screw in the clutch, then go back to the adjuster in the outer and remove most of the slack, leaving just a little.
