RE: PRIMO Belt Drive
I have one on my '87 FLST. No problems with the installation, and no problems since then. It's been on about a year. The clutch that comes with it ismuch better than the stock unit.
I ran a Primo on my last bike, a '78 FLH. It had about 140,000 on the drive, and I popped only one belt. One thing to make sure of is to ventilate it well. The heat buildup will dramatically shorten belt life.
Wanted to add that while you have it apart to take it a step further and pull the inner primary off. Inspect the alternatorcomponents. And check your tranny sprocket. I'd recommend pulling it and inspecting the shaft splines, and the sprocket splines. If either is the least bit worn, replace it.
