SE Compensator and Oil Grooves
#31
My SE comp is about a month old, on my 08SG 103
It is quiet as hell for the first 20-30 miles at cruising.
Then it starts lightly with the box of rocks, longer you
cruise the louder it gets. Weak springs I think. Not stiff
enough when up to full operating Temp. I plan to add
another small spring to the pack when I can find one.
Seems you have to buy the whole darn Spring Pak Kit,
to get just one.
Im sick of it and will probably order the kit soon.

Thanks for the insite of the oiling issue. I see some of the same problems on my 08 FLHTCU. I thought the S.E. would be the ultimate fix, I found that I was only dreaming. The motor company needs to address this issue, it is occuring way too often. If they would give the engineering department some budget and quite worrying about bike rallys and shows maybe some of this could be solved.

Not E'nuff Harley,
By any chance did you keep any of the Springs? like say the smallest one.
Or does anybody elso on here have any removed springs for a SE Comp???

Totally different in size, will have to do like me and hunt up a small spring from a defective SE unit, or just order a whole 80 dollar SE spring kit.

My 08 bike is out of warranty, I am doing all the wrench work, can't afford $100/hr, believe me, I don't want to go in the primary again, but, I have been wrenching, mechanicing, and such for years, I am not stupid, my noise's are not imaginary, never heard that kind of noise with stock compensator, something ain't right, I am willing to learn what it is and fix it, and I promise, I won't whine about Harley Davidson, Motor Company, or bore you with, they should done this or that, warranty this or that, I will just pursue the problem and attempt to fix it, put it back on the road and ride! Nothing is perfect, **** happens, just don't want to be 1000 miles away and at their mercy!
