Default Compensator nut and clutch nut torque for 2007flhx

I am seeing so many different torques and was wondering if it varied from year to year? I've seen 150,165,and even torque plus degrees and was just wondering what is correct? I'm going to be changing the drive belt on a friends bike and was wanting to have the right torque.

I would do, what the service manual recommends.

Ignore urban rumour on the internet, refer to the proper factory service manual, as B3 recommends! You will be disturbing several critical fasteners as well as the compensator, all of which will need to be tightened up just right.

is this the the same "factory" that is on thier third design of the compensator in the last five eight years?
is this the same "factory " that has issued three service bulletins as to the correct way to tension the compensator, (not to mention steering head bearings)

Is this the same "factory service manual" you are refering to..??.

You do have to sift through a lot of "sand" on the "Urban rumers"
however sometimes you find a gold nugget.

btw...look at the print date on the service manual....lots of updates if you look at service bulletins

Oh boy, I just change mine and used the same bolt. Sounds like I will be changing that bolt. I should have read the whole page in the SM.

the New bolt ( actually a nut) come with locktite already in the nut.
If you cleaned the threads on the nut and the crank well and applied red locktite..you should be ok with re-using ..( lots of bikes out there that have used the nut several times).
the manual is a CYA statement regarding the one time only use.

disclaimer : this is only my opinion and past experiance.

100 ft lbs, loosen 1 full turn, then torque to 140 ft lbs. ( 2007 Torque Values.) Higher torque is not good for cast crankshafts.

And I've never replaced my compensator nut through stator replacements at 19,000, 32,000 and 57,000 miles.
