Used 165 while back. Insured all threads were clean and primed and used the red permanent grade loctite. That worked. I tried the torque plus the degree thing this time and realized at least on my older design (04) comp that when you mark the position on it, it tends to also move when nut is turned making that method totally unsuitable. (cover with springs slips) Guess you are suppose to mark it way up on face of primary cover?

If you cleaned the threads on the nut and the crank well and applied red locktite..you should be ok with re-using ..( lots of bikes out there that have used the nut several times).
the manual is a CYA statement regarding the one time only use.

disclaimer : this is only my opinion and past experiance.
I actually just re-used the same one when i had to take off my inner and outter primary to install forward controls on my bob....a couple weeks later the bike wasnt wanting to start and i couldnt figure out what it was so i took it to the dealer bc it is still under warranty. the reason was the compensator bolt came loose and the plates were slipping. they COULD have voided the warranty if they wanted too. luckily the group of guys up at the local shop are all a really good bunch of guys and took care of it for me and got the warranty to cover. not saying yours will come loose just what happened in my situation. that bolt really is a lot of stress
