primary drain screw
Hello to all from Italy.
I need your help: I stripped the oil drain screw of the primary of my 2009 Road King.
Let me know if you can rebuild and if you tell me what's up (thread) of the screw (the code is 60328-98B).
What do you recommend? put a bigger screw, rebuild the thread with a helicoil or change the box's primary?
Thanks to all

A magnet will not pick up Aluminum.. Flush the primary with oil, clean out and inspect, repeat if necessary.. You will experience the same situation with a Helicoil.
I reread your post, I think I know what you're talking about. You may not be able to find the larger bolt with the magnet, but you can adapt the larger bolt with a magnet. There are some very high heat epoxies on the market today, drill the bolt, insert magnet and epoxy. Or, change out primary oil more often.

Remove the outer Primary cover and look at the situation at hand. What I have done in the past in situations where I want/need to eliminate as much shavings/chips/ metallic particles as possible, is to only turn the tap about a quarter turn at a time and back it out to take as much metal with you. Clean off the tap and the hole and do it again, repeat until the tap is through. You don't want to fill up or pack the taps flutes with metal.

I saw all the video demonstration of time-sert ... really looks like a good solution, but I think I will use the helicoil, more readily available here.
In any case, the intervention is very delicate, and I'll have to go to a specialist workshop to avoid doing harm even bigger ...
However, I have a curiosity: is that with the helicoil insert, does not come off when you unscrew it?

you do not have to removed your primary to drill and tap the hole to avoid debris. when drilling the hold put wheel bearing grease on the drill bit just past the cutting edge it will catch the shavings. than grease your tap when you cut the new threads. you will end up with no , or very very little shavings in your primary and that will be easy to clean up by removing the front primary cover....have fun
