Default What is the gearing for an Italian-made 1972 SX 350 Sprint Enduro

I just bought the bike and I dont know what the gearing is because it is European-made. Is it 1 down and 3 up like most bikes or something else?

Good question, but you can work that out for yourself. If the bike is not in neutral, rock it to and fro gently, while operating the gear lever, until you find neutral. From there simply find in which direction you only get one gear.

There is no hard rule on this subject. Around that era I had quite a few bikes and between them I had left and right gear-levers, also one-down and one-up for both sides! Harley were making Sportsters with right-foot gear levers and big twins with left-foot. Happy times....
