Default Locktite on outer primary cover bolts?

Friend has a 2002 Ultra and he's planning to replace the outer primary cover gasket due to a small leak. He wants to know if he should use Locktite on the bolts when he puts it back on? If so, which Loctite should he use?

I have 85,000 on my 02 ultra and never used locktite. I undo the bolts in the pattern recommended by the manual a little at a time till loose and when I reinstall using the same pattern and torque in 3 steps to 100 to 108 inch pounds.

In the past 2 weeks I have had my outer primary off at least 10 times do to the noise the Baker parts where making. Fixed now.

+1....those are screws you can keep and eye on and one should do a routine nut-n-bolt check every now and then anyway. If you are going to use anything...only a SMALL amount of blue on clean threads and install in criss-cross steps like mentioned above. I like to put some silicone between my thumb and forefinger and just slip the gasket through to slightly coat each side. I don't even remember the last time I purchased a new primary gasket and I have been in mine a few times too.

The newer gaskets metal between paper on both sides I have taken off and put back on 4 or 5 times with out sealer and never had a leak. If you look in the manual it has a torque pattern where you start in the middle and work to the front in a cross pattern then go to the back in a cross pattern. Torquing properly I have never had one come loose.

After talking to Baker for hours and buying parts from them that did not do any good as well as having the primary cover off and the drive out about 10 times I put a HB 125 hydraulic primary chain adjuster in and 90% of my noise is gone. To run with Bakers big sprocket you have to get the thick shoe for the HB 125 and put one 3/8 washer in the shoe where the plunger goes before putting on the plunger. Since I started posting about this problem seems others are having the same problem with the big compensating sprockets from Baker. I still get a little slap when cold but seems to go away when it warms up. I only have about 100 miles since I put the HB 125 in but if nothing comes up hope to put a couple hundred on it this Sunday.
