i have noticed a leak that has gotten much worse over the past few months. after finaly getting all the oil (or primary fluid) off the inner cover i noticed a crack that th previous owner had welded up. it is at the very front of the inner primary and is now leaking at a fast rate. i took i to a loca shop and they quoted me $525 t replace the gasket on the inner an the valve cover gaskets. i didnt find out tll i got home that the inner was actually cracked.

i have a service manual but it is not very in depth about what needs to be done to remove the inner primary cover and replace it. i am a pretty good mechanic but i have never torn into the primary before. do i need any special tools or can it get everything out with normal automotive tools?

 

Normal tools are all you need. Pull the outer primary cover. Pull the compensator, primary chain, clutch pack, etc. Pull the inner. It's all in the manual......

 

are any of the bolts reverse thread?

 

Clutch hub nut is left handed........
