Change primary and tranny fluid after winter?
I havent hit the mileage needed to change the fluid in my primary and tranny but I was wondering if I should after having the bike sit for several months over the winter? I'll obviously do the motor oil but I was wondering if it would be waste to do the other two holes at the same time.

Best practice is to change all three holes prior to winter storage due to condensation/contaminants. Having said that, no one has heard of rusting or other damage done to the internals of an engine for not having changed them out. How many miles are on the tranny and primary fluid you have now?

I bought it used in August with 5000 miles on it and the owner said all fluids were just changed with synthetic. I put about 2000 miles on it before it got too cold to ride so all 3 holes only have about 2000 miles on them.
As I previously mentioned, I'm going to change the engine oil for sure even though it only has 2k on it but I was wondering if it was overkill to do the other 2.

Not knowing what synthetic was put in the tranny, I would change it. A tranny likes gear oil. If he put something like Syn3 in there, I'd definitely change it. I like Redline Shockproof Heavy. If you can't find that then put in something like Mobil1 75/90. Syn in the primary is overkill. I would change both.

Thanks for the replies. I was actually looking at the Redline Big Twin set http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=105&pcid=13 to do everything. I assume they give enough to change all the fluids? It seems to get good comments from many of the people on here so I thought I'd give it a try.
This is my first HD so it's a bit of a learning process but I'm enjoying every minute.

Redline shockproof heavy. I'm guessing the water was from condensation. I did many cold weather runs last winter(back and forth to work) but, none of them were long enough to get up to operating temp. I put shockProof heavy back in after replacing the bearing and it will be getting changed in the spring.
