Default 2010 RK 6 speed transmission

Bought a 2010 RK 6 speed new and have 12 k miles. The transmission has an unbearable clunk when going from neutral to first. Also up thru 2 & 3rd. Have tried Amsoil, Spectrol and dealer has installed a SE compensating sprocket.

Nothing has helped one bit. Transmission shifts fine, no problem finding neutral, etc.

Anyone have similiar problems and a solution? It's embarrassing to ride. My previous 2001 RK with a 5 speed and 120 k miles never had this problem.

Have you tried Redline Shockproof Heavy in the tranny and Redline MTL or ATF in the primary?

I had repeated problems with a new bike some years ago (not a Harley) and the dealer finally diagnosed warped clutch plates, which were dragging slightly, messing up selecting first gear. When on the move it was sweet as a nut. Changing the warped plates cured it.

Another possibility is simply clutch adjustment. That can certainly be a problem on older models. But we would hope the dealer already checked that....

Sounds like clutch as said.

Don't count on the dealer to be able to find this problem. Even if you get their attention they like as not give the job th the new guy for some reason. I think clutch adjusting can be toughter than it looks. Takes a good hand to do right.

Agreed - it's a black art!

It may be just that. Clutch related. Even an over full primary can cause similar problems
