The -98A is not stock on the TC96. In 06 they changed to a lighter spring which is 37882-06 (300lbs) and use that up to present models. The -98A is a 330lb spring. The new clutch assembly (37816-11) on the 2011 103's is using the 37871-04 spring which is also 300lbs.

My experience with MOCO hydraulic clutches is that they will offer a "slight" reduction in pull and smoother engagement, but they won't help as much as advertised. The weaker spring, or the AIM VPC is the only real solution. Like you can read all over various threads in various forums...if you really want a easy pulling clutch yet retain the strength of the clutch to eliminate slipping...the VPC is the ultimate solution. It's a bit pricey, but is in the range of the hydraulic clutch...maybe cheaper, takes around 15-20 minutes to install and you will not have anymore issues.

I have a Stage 2 103/SE 255 and arthritice hands. I just changed from a SE spring (37951-98) to the 37871-04 spring which is for the 2010 Limited. I'm now ready to buy a VPC clutch. I want the least pull force possible but, obviously don't want the clutch to slip. Can I use the VP70T with my current spring with no slipping or do I need to go back to the SE spring?

You will notice that "launch" rpm may be a bit higher, but once to take off and hit 2000-2500 rpm, any of the units are designed to positively lock-up the clutch....no slip.
If for some (and I think remote) reason you do not like the "feel" of the 70T, you can always stick in an SE spring.....but I don't think you will have any problems. I ran a 70T over an SE spring on a heavy trike for years, full Stage II, ported heads and flowed intake....never had an issue. These things were designed with the drag-racer in mind and they will recommend the higher-pull version with your set-up just to be on the safe side, but the 70T will work just fine and your hand will love it.

If you don't have one now....find somebody that has the VPC installed....ride it and you will throw away all the other trinkets, gadgets and clutch cables. I know a smoother cable will help, but the VPC will cure ANY clutch-pull ills and you will be done with it. It also installs in around 15-20 minutes through the derby cover on a TC, but the EVO takes a bit longer, because of the "special tool" required and the labor involved to remove the pressure-plate retainer.
