Default chirping noise

I have a 95 softail, and there is a chirping noise coming from either the primary, clutch, or transmission area when I decelerate. It does not occur when the clutch is engaged, but when I let off the throttle, it sounds like birds are mating somewhere in the lower left area of the bike. Any thoughts?
thanks

That's what I was going to suggest. If you can twist it with your fingers much past 45 degrees, that's probably what it is.
