2007 sportster only starts in neutral??

Default 2007 sportster only starts in neutral??
My friend just bought a 2007 F/I 1200 sportster . Will not start in any gear with clutch pulled in. It only starts in neutrual with the clutch disengaged???? What is the problem? Thanks, JC

2007 is the 1st year of Sportsters to have a clutch
switch (PN 71584-96A) in the hand control. It's there for this very
purpose. Bike must be in Neutral or in gear with clutch lever pulled
in to start.

mine needs neutral but no clutch when side stand is down ,it wont start in gear as fare as i can remember , i think .....lol

Check the switch. Lots of complaints on those failing.
