Everyone seems to feel that I am way off??? Same symptoms as my bike... bad comp. I have seen a dozen or so stock compensators grenade and produce these symptoms.

I hope original poster follows though with what he finds....

 

Dont worry, you're not way off. As I'm sure youre aware of, the kickback/starter noise is the first symptoms a rider notices and complains about. And they dont notice the rattling noise either, usually writing it off as valve train noise.
