I had a post labeled GOLD DUST IN OIL Well i just changed the transmission oil in my 08 UC and found where the brass shavings are coming from. It now has17000 miles has 7 year warrenty . I talked to the head mechanic at my dealership and says there is a brass bushing in the trans. Does any one else have this problem or have heard of it? I looked in the parts manual for the breakdown but it does not tell you which parts are brass. DOES ANYONE KNOW AN 08 TRANSMISSION WELL ENOUGH TO TELL ME HOW MANY BRASS PARTS ARE IN THE TRANS?

 

I've seen some brass glitter in mine, but if I don't find chips or chunks, I'm not going to worry about it. I've been told it's normal, just like the steel shavings on the drain plug magnet. It must be part of the break in process, because everytime I change the oil, I get less and less of it. I've got 13,000 on mine now. and there was almost nothing on the drain plugs at 12,500.

 

Bushings are normally made of brass.I would think a parts list/diagram would show all the bushings.
