Default 89 Clutch Basket

I was just installing the diaphragm spring and adjuster plate on my 89 Softail clutch basket and was checking the diaphram spring flatness. According to the manual it should be flat within .010". if is isn't you can use one of the other positions on the adjuster plate to increase or decrease the tension on the spring. Mine was really low in one spot so I checked and found that one of the posts that the adjuster plate rests on is about .050" shorter than the rest making it impossible to get the spring flat at any adjuster plate setting. WTF? Do I have to get a new basket or can I shim it with the correct thickness washer?
