I have a 2002 FXDL. I measured my drive belt and it was exactly 1 1/8 in. wide. If I replace my pulleys do I buy 1 1/8 in. pulleys or do I buy 1 1/4 in. pulleys? I see both sizes advertised a lot on e-bay. Also should the pulleys be replaced with the belt like you do with chain drive or only if they look worn. Thanks for any info on the subject. When you replace the pulleys, you should take a careful look at the belt..If it is hooked on the teeth, then yes indeed replace the belt. The Poly-Chain belts will wear an aluminum pulley out fast. supermax.net has a fix for those. Replace your pulleys with the same width pulleys as were originally installed.
The pulleys on ebay are the same thing you have now and will not live long. Your better off geting the old one over-layed..They dont wear out or squeal..plus they extend belt life considerably..Hawgley
