Sportster clutch lever replacement
Hello,
My wife dropped her 2000 Sportster and broke the clutch lever completely off...the cables appear to be fine...I am an auto mechanic (shade tree) not a bike mechanic....how hard of a fix is this, and will the local HD shop know what I need? Hate to sound stupid, but just want to fix her bike.....
Thanks,
Steve

Easy swap. You will need the lever 45015-96 and the retaining ring 11143, should cost ya $41 total. Loosen the adjuster on the cable all the way to slacken it. Use snap ring pliers to take off the retaining ring and pop out the clevis pin. Pull the lever out of the perch and unhook the cable from it. Attach cable to new lever and put lever in the perch. Put clevis pin back in and install new retaining ring. Adjust clutch cable so that there is 1/16-1/8" of freeplay when you pull the cable out of the back end of the perch.
